The education of our children is something that concerns us, not only education at home, but outside of it, at school. Which center to choose? Which one will be the most suitable?
A teaching method is the set of methods and principles that teachers put in place to get students to learn. These methods include both how to teach and how to assess students. Normally educational centers adopt one or another teaching method (within what is the educational project of the center) although each teacher in the classroom can also adopt a methodology appropriate to the subject to be taught. But, What is the best educational method for children?
Teaching methods are many and varied and to be efficient it must adapt both to the content we are teaching and to the individual student. That is to say, not all methods are suitable for all students, since it depends a lot on how the student learns or their cognitive style, the age of the students or if they have, for example, learning difficulties or not. In addition, it will also depend on the subject that we are teaching, since the teaching of a language is not the same as the teaching of mathematics, or natural sciences. Therefore we cannot speak of the "best method" of teaching, not of methods more suitable than others for each child and each subject.
The important thing therefore is that the teaching process adapts to the individual characteristics of the students, their interests, the characteristics of the classroom group and the characteristics of the content to be taught.
The fundamental thing in a good teaching method is that it focuses on the student as the engine of learning, What does this mean? While there are methods that focus on the teacher as the "source" of all knowledge and the student is a passive receiver of content, who has to demonstrate through an exam (the same for all) a level of mastery of the subject. other methods that focus on student participation as directors of the teaching-learning process, such as discovery learning, or cooperative learning. These methods seek the active participation and motivation of the student and start from the student's own interests as a learning engine.
The currently called "alternative" methods (such as the Waldorf, Montessori, Doman method, etc ...) are not new, but they are contrary to what we understand as conventional education. Are, more than a teaching method, a different pedagogy, a different conception of both the student and the teaching-learning process.
Regarding innovative methodologies that are used in the classroom, some of which we found:

- Collaborative or cooperative learning. Students work in groups to solve or carry out classroom tasks or to generate knowledge. It is a methodology in which each member of the group counts and the work of the group depends on the work of each and every one of the members.
- Flipped classroom or reverse pedagogy in which the theory is worked at home and in the classroom it is practiced. This methodology aims to optimize class time by dedicating it to meeting the needs of each student, developing cooperative projects or working on projects.
- Gamification or gamification it is the use of the game in educational activities, such as the introduction of video games in learning, or the use of tablets in the classroom.
Regarding which are the best educational methods for children, or the best pedagogies, we can only say that they are the ones that adapt to the specific child, their characteristics and their needs. A methodology that motivates the child and makes him participate in his teaching-learning process, to teach them to think and to seek that children become the engine of knowledge generation, and not in mere receivers of content and above all a method that seeks that the student has fun learning, and always wants more!
